# Message Templates

### Viewing Templates

The template list shows each item by **Name**, its **Type** of Template or Snippet, and who last updated it. The search bar finds one by name.

### Templates and snippets

Every entry is one of two types, and you pick the type as you create it. Both live in the same library, and the message editor inserts both from the same picker.

* A **Template** is a whole message body. Pick one in the message editor and it **replaces** whatever sits in the editor. Use templates for complete messages you reuse, such as a verification prompt, a promo blast or a reminder.
* A **Snippet** is a reusable fragment. Pick one and Flapjax **inserts it at your cursor** instead of replacing the body, so you can drop it into a message you are composing.

**Type is fixed once created.** You choose Template or Snippet at creation and cannot change it later. Need the other type? Create a new entry.

### Creating a template or snippet

Open the **New template** menu in the top-right corner and choose **Template** or **Snippet**. A side panel opens with:

* **Name**, a descriptive name, required
* **Type**, a read-only tag reflecting your choice from the menu
* **Message Content**, a text editor for the message body, or for the fragment on a snippet

Message templates use plain text formatting for **SMS** sends. WhatsApp sending is not available. The WhatsApp send action left the automation catalogue, so nobody can select it.

Click **Save** to create the entry.

### Editing a Template

Click any template in the list to reopen the editor panel. Make your changes and click **Save**.

### Deleting a Template

Open the actions menu next to a template and select **Delete**. Flapjax removes it permanently.

**Tip:** message templates load into automation message actions, the same way email templates do. That saves time and keeps your messaging consistent.
